Freedom of religion vs. headscarf ban in the workplace - A landmark ruling
The question of whether employers are permitted to stipulate that employees may not wear religious symbols in the workplace is increasingly coming to the fore. In particular, the headscarf, which for many Muslim women is a symbol of identity, is repeatedly the subject of judicial controversy. The European Court of Justice (ECJ) has now handed down an eagerly awaited landmark ruling on this issue.
