Fines unlawful!

A landmark ruling in the matter of fine proceedings. In a landmark decision, the Higher Regional Court of Frankfurt am Main ruled on November 6, 2019 that traffic monitoring by private service providers is unlawful. No fines can be issued on this basis.

This means, above all for future or ongoing proceedings, that the proceedings of such private speed cameras are open to challenge. The court will next deal with the use of private traffic monitoring for parking offenders.
